Change Can Be Good
It might seem as if you just attended Marlboro Electric’s (MEC’s) annual meeting, but here comes another one!
Last year, COVID-19 forced us to reschedule our originally planned April meeting date to October. Even though our October meeting was quite different than any other prior year, we listened to your feedback that different was good!
Who would have thought we would have such a wonderful turnout in attendance during a pandemic? We learned it was more accessible for a lot of folks and just made things easier, pandemic or not.
With that said, MEC is back to having our annual meeting in April, which is set for Saturday, April 10. This year will start again by driving through the truck shed to register and receive your registration gift from the safety of your own vehicle. We are excited to give out MEC-logoed camping chairs like we have in years past. Members who want to stay for the official meeting will be directed to an outdoor parking area and will also have a chance to win various raffle prizes at the end of the meeting. You must be present to win. Members can tune in to the meeting from their car radio and listen to the meeting that will take place on the big stage.
For safety concerns, we still won’t be able to provide food or drink, but we invite members to bring their own while enjoying entertainment by our house annual meeting band, A New Creation. Please plan to tailgate with us!
Something new this year is our live line safety demo trailer. Our linemen will demonstrate common causes of power outages and illustrate the importance of safety around electrical power sources. This high-voltage safety trailer was designed and built by our linemen to simulate live high-voltage situations. We’ve found this to be an important educational tool for first responders, public safety departments, businesses, and schools. We are eager to share with you, our members. Safety has been and will always be our top priority.
Hopefully soon, we’ll be able to gather and shake hands again. In the meantime, we remain focused on keeping our membership informed. Drive in early, and enjoy the entertainment and educational opportunities. I look forward to seeing you there! I know our CEO, William Fleming, has some exciting news to share that will no doubt help brighten your spring!
